Graphical models are centred around:
- Using graphs to represent our (informal) beliefs about conditional independence between things.
- Use those graphs to find probabilistic distributions that actually match those beliefs.
- Doing computations with those distributions, exploiting the fact that they are built upon our model/graphs.
